It also lists organisations that take other materials for donation both overseas and in the UK as well as companies that ship donated material overseas. The fact that organisations are listed does not mean that we know a great deal about them or that we can necessarily recommend them. The information is given here for reference and we cannoot take responsibility for any errors.

Sends new children's books overseas, currently twenty-seven countries, offers lists. Has a book bank in France which buys unwanted books from publishers at a nominal cost. Handles approx 12,000 books a year. Portuguese and French offices deal with Lusophone and Francophone countries, Netherlands office deals with rest of the world.

Largely voluntary organisation (one part time administrator) posts parcels of books to communities in developing countries. They sent about 28 thousand books in 1,111 parcels to 37 countries in 1996. Fairly even  spread to Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
